Using MBS in Management Accounting Teaching

Background

The university and the School encourage teachers to adopt more innovative teaching methods
• Simulation game: Marco Business Simulation (MBS)
• Course: ACCT5120 Cost and Management Accounting

Design
• Participated students: 117 MAcc students
• Two classes played the game independently
• Students played the game over a period of 3 weeks, with two weeks for trials and one week for formal game
• Students’ game result was measured and ranked using NPV
• Students were required to finish a group-based reflection report upon the completion of the simulation game, the quality
